SITUATION
Trivago users still don’t fully understand that trivago is a metasearch platform and not an online travel
agency (OTA). This means that sometimes they’re confused about where the booking takes place.

CHALLENGE
  • Explain the difference between an online travel agency (such as Booking.com, Expedia.com, Hotels.com) and a metasearch platform such as trivago.
  • Visualizing the online booking journey of a traveler with an OTA versus finding and booking the same hotel through a metasearch platform.
